The Nelson SPCA
The charitable beneficiary of the 2011 Girls Day Nelson! Expo is the local branch of the SPCA. This national entity provides support and care to all animals in need, whether they are lost, abandoned, injured or victims of cruelty or neglect.
Nelson SPCA is providing a safe refuge for displaced animals after the Christchurch earthquake. They will not turn any away, which is fantastic, however it places an added burden on their fragile resources. They really need our support.
The SPCA receives no government funding and is run mainly by volunteers who work tirelessly to provide rescue and a safe haven for animals in crisis. The SPCA rehomes as many animals as it can and is a passionate advocate for those creatures who cannot speak for themselves.
